changing field name in form

Hello,

I am creating a form for data entry. The data will eventually be exported
to SPSS statistical software, which limits field names to 8 characters. In
order to make things easier, I've given all of my field names in Access 8
characters or less. However, I am now making a form so that people can enter
data and I am wondering if I can change the field name to something more user
friendly on the form. In other words, if the field is primcare, I'd like to
change it to Primary Caregiver only on the form and have the data go to the
column primcare. Is this okay or will it not understand it.

Thanks!

Users of applications that I have created generally don't have a clue what
my field names are. Label controls have caption properties that you can set
to almost any value you want. Do this in design view of your form.

Change the label caption to indicate the purpose of the text and other
fields.

In addition to what has been written, you can change a field's caption in
table design view without changing the name that Access uses for that field
in queries, etc. or when exporting. The field's caption will be used by
default for the label when you create a control by dragging a field onto the
form or report.
This is for future reference if you have already built the for. As has been
written, the label caption can be anything you want, without regard to the
field name.
