Transcribing Sanskrit words to English

I have to transcribe Sanskrit words to English in a paper, and have to place
a "dot" under the letters m, n, t, d. For example to place a dot under "n"
one types nF025 (the range is 25 to 29) and hits the Alt+x keys. This works
for every letter except "d". Can anyone tell me how to place a "dot" under
the "d"? Please, include example with specific instructions.

I'm using Microsoft Office Word 2003, Arial font, and the Character Map
(Group by: Unicode Subrange/Private Use Characters) to find the codes.

You could type d F025 (with a blank after "d"), then use Alt+X, then delete
the blank.

Else, d is interpreted as a hexadeximal number (= part of the code DF025).

It's much simpler though to select the dot character with code F025, and
assign some keyboard shortcut (Insert > Symbol > Shortcut...).

By the way, the dots U+F01E to U+F02C are some special characters that only
work for Arial, Times New Roman, and perhaps a few other MS fonts.
It may be better to generally use the combining dot below, U+0323 (defined
in the Unicode standard), even if it doesn't look quite as nice.

If you do want to use U+F025 to U+F029, depending on the character, you
might define AutoCorrect enties for the combined characters.
Select, say, an n with the dot, then open "Tools > AutoCorrect options...",
and type some shortcut such as #n.# in the "Replace" box.
