Tracking tasks

This might be an Outlook with Exchange server question. I
was wondering if Outlook and Exchange has a feature of
tracking and assigning tasks to a group and capabilities
of generating reports and also capabilities of giving a
higher ranking supervisor to be able to track these
tasks? I hope my question is not too confusing. We like
to be able to use Outlook to its fullest and not to
purchase any other application. If there is any third
party application that enables Outlook to do such a task
please let me know. I was hoping that we could use the
public folders, but in public folders you can not assing
tasks. Thank you.

No, Outlook can assign a task only to a single individual. You might find
some useful tools at http://www.slipstick.com/addins/tasks.htm, though.
