Tracking in Word2007

How to I shut off tracking in Word 2007. I don't want my changes necessarily
viewed by simply changing to "Original with markup" or something like that.
I want the option to Turn ON or Turn OFF tracking.

As has always been the case, turning OFF Track Changes merely prevents
further edits from being tracked. It does nothing to remove the previously
tracked changes. In order for them to not be viewable you must Accept or
Reject ALL changes in addition to turning the feature off.

If you want to maintain a copy with the changes intact, do a Save As first &
Accept/Reject in the copy.

The features you need are on the Review tab of the Ribbon.

Thanks for your reponse. What I miss about older versions is the ability to
simply shut off tracking or turn it on, if we are in review. Yes, I can
Accept all changes, etc., but it is time consuming to do so, and confusing
for my customer. Also having to always accept changes to see the end result
slows me down--bigtime.
I would like to simply shut off tracking. Can I in this new version?

There are several ways to turn Tracking off and on. For example,
Control+Shift+E will toggle tracking off and on. Is that way okay for you?

If you right click on the status bar in Word 2007 you can choose to have the Track Changes state shown on your taskbar. Clicking
that choice turns it on and off when it's displayed.

Once on though, turning it off won't accept already tracked changes.

I think you're talking about a display issue only. In Word 2003, you can
select Final view rather than Final Showing Markup, but this is dangerously
misleading because most users wisely have Word set to "Make hidden markup
visible when opening or saving." Surely there is some equivalent of Final
view in Word 2007?

If you don't want customers to be able to see your markup, you need to
accept the changes; otherwise, why leave them in? And if you don't want to
be tracking changes at all, then you should not turn Track Changes on.
