Tracking Changes - copying to another document

I have a large document that has many changes that are being tracked. I have
been asked to take those changes in different parts of the document and copy
them to another document and name them a new name. When I copy them to the
other document, the tracking changes are removed. For example, either all of
the deleted words are gone, or they all show up without the markings. I was
able to perform this task on a different computer yesterday, but not able to
do this today. I didn't know if had something to do with the view set up or
the author or permissions. Please help me if you can.
