I am trying to send emails of attached word documents which have the track changes turned off once the changes have been made, but when they get to the receipent the track changes come on again showing the receipent the amendments which have been made - dangerous !! can any one tell me how to prevent this from happening

Hi Jane

Before sending the document, you need to accept all changes. If you don't do
this, the changes remain in the file and can be viewed by the recipient,
whether or not they appear immediately.

I am having this same problem with a document I am trying to post to our company's Intranet. When I view the actual document and the posted document, it looks fine but when others view it, the changes are marked up. I read your response and I don't understand what you mean by "accept the changes". What I have done is view the Reviewing Toolbar and make sure the button for "track changes" is not selected. Help and thanks. Oh, and I am using Word 2000. I've updated this document before and never had this problem

I forgot to mention in my earlier post that I tried copy and pasting into a new document but it still shows tracked changes for other users (again, it looks fine when I view it)

Thanks

In Word 2000, use Tools > Track Changes > Accept or Reject Changes, and
Accept All.

Turning off Track Changes just stops ... tracking the changes. It does not
remove any changes already tracked.

It worked! You rock and my boss thinks I'm a genius! Thanks so much.

Glad it was a success :-)

No-one has ever said I 'rock' before, so thanks for that too :-) :-)
