Track Changes-Colors Changing While Saving Document

L

Lynne

Hello everybody.

When any one of us makes changes to a document that's already had some
changes, and we keep the Track Changes on, our changes show on the screen in
colors different from what's showing from existing changes (as we'd expect).
Yet when we save the document, our changes turn into the color that matches
the already existing color. And in the Reviewing Pane, everyone shows up as
"Author."

We are using Word 2003. In our Word Tools/Options/User Information we each
have different usernames designated, and in Tool/Options/Track Changes, all
of our colors for Markup are designated "By author."

What are we missing/doing wrong?

Thank you so much for any help.

Probably in Tools > Options > Security you have checked "Remove personal
information from file properties on save". Since the reviewers' names are
considered personal information, they're removed and replaced by the anonymous
"Author" -- and of course there's only one Author, so all the colors collapse to
one.

Yep, that's it! Thank you so much once again. I never would have figured
that one out.
