toshiba laptop

ok i have a toshiba satelite pro 4600
it has 5 lights at the front, battery, hard drive, on, another one im not
quite sure of and the plug light, now when i turn the laptop off the plug
light stays on, quite sure it didnt do this before, is this a battery problem
or something else, have looked on toshiba website but didnt really see
anything that would explain this

no it is unplugged when i do this, which is unusual, the light is amber not

How are you turning off the computer? Have you reviewed settings on the
Advanced page of Power Options? There are some alternate states (other than
off) that can be configured for closing lid or using power button.

yeh have tried changing these settings too, changed them all to shut down but
the problem is still there, have just ran a checkit program and found that
the hard drive is faulty, but still not sure if this would cause the light to
stay on, might even try changing the battery to see if that works
