This location has changed in Vista.

Go to Control Panel/Default Programs, click the "Associate a file type or
protocol with a program" link.

This also works differently in Vista. Open Help and Support and search for
"associate a file type." Click the first link in the results.

Unfortunately, MS has dropped the "File Types" dialog in Vista. See this blog post (especially the Comments section) for more information:

To change the default icon and other advanced settings for a file class, you need to edit the registry directly. Or you can use a third-party file type association tool to automate things. See:
