Toolbars for PDF Create not functioning anymore

Roy

Hello guys!
I just have this perplexing problem recently about the PDF Create
in my MS Word toolbars
Its not functioning anymore. Similar toolbars in EXCEL, Powerpoint and
Outlook still works fine.
This is a third party software which I installed a few months ago and
it stop workin in MS word if I follow the direct route of clicking the
toolbar if I ever need to convert a word document to PDF.
Yes it still works the other way but clicking the right clicking the
file and scroll down and get do PDF create but its not what I expect
from this .
I want to create a PDF file by clicking the PDF create button.
One thing also another alternative PDF create button in the upperside
located near the Help Icon has vanished as well which are still
existent in Excel,Powerpoint and Outlook
I also clicked add remove buttons but and click the check box for
PDf create but its not functioning anymore.
I know its not software defect but likely some errors in the MSword.
Maybe had something to do with Template problem.
BTW I am still not well versed what this global and normal template
means.
Now I would like to ask if there is anybody who is an expert in
sorting this problem which I know just occured in the MS word
recently.
MY PC had the Office professional 20003 installed.
TIA.

It sounds like you have the button in normal.dot, rather than applied from
the add-in that provides the function. Check that the add-in is still
present in the Word or Office startup folder.http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adobe_acrobat_toolbar.htmwill provide some
background.

Hello Graham,
Thanks for your informative reply. I never knew about these things but
unfortunately I am using a Scansoft version of PDF creator( Scansoft
PDF professional v. 3) and the toolbars are safely parked in the
appropriate areas in the tool bars. In my case in the left upper
side..
I could have asked this issue to Scansoft but its not the problem of
the softwares as its functioning properly in other applications, only
in Microsoft word. Another thing is as the product is not technically
supported freely as it considered be a matured technology I will
have to pay a substantial fee if I asked their experts opinion and
there is no guarantee that their suggestion will succeed as the
problem is not their product but the applications its being used.
I had the same issue with the PDF professional 2 in the past in which
they were unable to completely resolve. So in my opinion it will be a
waste of money based on past experienced with the older version.
ThisPDF pro version is a counterpart of the Adobe acrobat pro 7.
Therefore if there are anybody here that have used related
competitive software I am expecting that he or she should have
experienced this problem occasionally.
I remember in PDF pro 2 when ever I closed the Word window there is
that save the template in Normal dot which I can't understand and just
ignored it and closed the Window. It did happen the same way in the
version 3 but they have similar issues.
I just only want to get back to normal; that is when the PDF toolbars
are functioning properly and there is an alternative PDF Create icon
beside the Help button of the Word toolbar.
Meanwhile the toobars for PDF create, PDF create and e-mail,PDF link
settings are there as well as Open PDF in Word
I don't want to lose this tool bar functionality as its safely parked
on the location I stated above.
My concern is I can't make this PDF tools to function properly just
like before whenever I need to create PDF or create PDF inMSWord and
email it won't work. Therefore I am thinking there is something wrong
with the MSWord macros responsible for this...As I am not a programmer I
reluctant to play with Macro tools unless given an expert guidance to
get the job done precisely.
Now I tried to go to the tools>templates and add ins and I can't just
get the exact idea what do I have to add in...so I have to create (PDF
create box?)...in the customize settings .
But I am led to the new box stating add template. ......
One thing that concerns me when I click the add and removed buttons
situated just adjacent to the PDF creator toolbars I will get
'customize' and when searched for PDF create there is an empty box
with the check sign that had vanished where it used to have a check
sign before. But when I checked that PDF create box a wandering or
floating tool box with the caption similar to just you mentioned but
like this PD delta, X; the delta will show another add and remove
buttons with the samefeatures as the one in the existing PDFs toobar I
mentioned.
Do I have to add a template here?
But when I click the inverted delta sign which had add and remove
buttons and uncheck the PDF create box this wondering tool box just
vanished. I know this is related to the PDF create toolbar entrenched
in the upperside but seems to be just relics now and is useless.
I was thinking that maybe this is connected to the registry but I am
sure what part or is it really.
I am at a loss how to sort this things properly. I am certain that
uninstalling/reinstalling the Scansoft PDF pro version 3 software will
not sort this problem based upon my experience with the version 2 .
I am certain that this had something to do with the Microsoft word
Macros which sounds 'GREEK' to me.

I am not familiar with this software, but the principles hold good. The
toolbar button would have been initially supplied by an add-in.
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/CheckIfAddinsInstalled.htm

The add-in may have been disabled - check Help >About Microsoft Word >
Disabled Items.

My guess is that the PDF function will utilise a 'printer' drive. In which
case 'printing' to the PDF driver will have a similar effect to the missing
or non-functioning add-in

If all else fails you can create a macro to direct output to the PDF
'printer' driver using the method shown at
