Michael,
Yes it is possible.... You have to make a registry hack and here is how.
START/RUN and type in regedit and hit ENTER. Navigate to:
HKEY/CURRENT USER/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/TOOLBAR
and then double click TOOLBAR folder in left pane... In the right pane,
RIGHT click an empty space and select new STRING VALUE and type
exactly this.. "BackBitmapShell" without the quotes. click just outside of
that text box and then RIGHT click ON the BackBitmapShell and select
MODIFY.. Type in the full pathway to the toolbar wallpaper you want to use.
EXAMPLE: When you are done, it should look like this:
BackBitmapShell REG_SZ Your pathway here thus: EXAMPLE ONLY
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\Mikes pix\woodgrain.bmp... That was
an example only... You must put the full pathway to your image there..
Then close REGEDIT... ALSO, it is advisable that you EXPORT the regedit
key to your desktop BEFORE you do this... That way if you make a mistake,
you can click the exported file and restore the file by MERGE...
Hope this helps.

Hi again Burt,

got partway through your registry hack when I realised I have been here
before. This was how I changed the background bitmap for Internet Explorer.
What I wondered is whether there is a way of doing this for Windows
Explorer?
