I need a tool to assist with my backup's. I have an huge collection
(100gb) of MP3's, photos and other files that I want to archive off to
DVD's and I want a tool that will be able to keep track of what files
that I have put onto a DVD and those that I haven't.

I have taken a look at some of the backup software offerings that are
out there and can't tell whether they do what I need.,

Any suggestions?

Search for SyncBack here on the list couple of days ago. I use it and I
think it should easily do. Look into the options or preferences.

Sounds a bit more like a disk cataloguer than a back-up? Don't know if
these will tell you which ones you DIDN'T back up, but FWIW:

Cathy http://rvas.webzdarma.cz/
Locate32 http://locate32.webhop.org
Both catalogue your disks very well, but they don't offer the chance to
make a per-file comment. I think the following ones do, but, I've not
checked them recently:

DiscoMania http://www.fortunecity.com/skyscraper/jobbs/79/index.html

DiskCat www.rob.cybercomm.nl

Disk Explorer Professional http://www.diskexplorerpro.com
had a free-for-personal-use version last time I looked - bigger, more
modern, more complex program but more powerful
