Too much security

I have been using XP with no problems for three months---moving from Windows
95 after a crash. Last Friday I had an encounter with a virus or worm but
Norton Antivirus quanentined a file and SystemWorks One Button Checkup fixed
the problem. Now my system and all programs work ok except that I have to
'stand on my head' to get into my system and open programs or do anything.

After booting up as well as after attempting to open any program, or change
any settings in the control panel, etc., I get this "Run As" pop up. It has
the button defining the current user (me as administrator) and a button for
adding other users. There is a checked box below the current user button
which says "Protects my computer and data from unauthorized program
activity"

I can only open a program, help screen, control panes, etc., if I uncheck
this box. (When I first boot up, I must repeat this step at least three or
four times before I can access my desktop.)

I can find no way to get into this security system. Where does it reside and
can I modify it? (I never saw this popup until after I recovered from the
virus problem.)

Overly secure Al

AL, go into Norton and remove the quarintined items. Now,
reconfigure your Norton for what you need. It is a good
product that allows you to set it so high you run into
these problems. It's a tradeoff.
Good Luck
