Can anybody please help? My computor seems to be getting really bogged down
because I seem to have about 70 processes activated automatically. I dont
know what they are for. How can I delete them??

Click Start / Run / msconfig.exe {OK}
Now click the Startup tab and untick the processes you do not
recognise, then reboot the machine. If you untick some process
by mistake, simply but the tick mark back again.

Do not untick your virus scanner.

70 does seem to be a bit on the high side. Open task manager and see what's
running, then do some research on those items you don't know using these
sites.

www.google.com

http://castlecops.com/StartupList.html

After you have this figured out decide what you don't want to run. To
eliminate programs from running at start up first step should be to check in
the options for the program you don't want to start and see if there is a
setting to tell it not to run at startup. The next step is to remove any
entries you don't want from the two startup folders:

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

For anything else uncheck their entries in the startup tab of msconfig:
Start | Run | Msconfig | Ok

Another option is to remove the reference to them from one of these keys in
the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

Make sure you have a backup of the registry using a program like ERUNT
before making any changes to the registry.

Be careful on stopping any services. Those should be configured through the
services snap in console. From Start | Run type in services.msc. Click Ok.

Is your problem a recent one, or one that has existed from the
beginning?
How can I delete them??

From the sounds of it, you're something of a newbie to this sort of
thing. If you mess up, you'll delete settings that your computer
NEEDS to run audio/video, etc.
