Can you let me know why Outlook won't allow me to send to
my distribution list of friends. It says there were too
many on the list.

How many friends were you trying to email?

Outlook does not say that. Outlook does not impose a limit on how many
people you may mail at one time (other than having a 32K character limit on
the To, Cc, and Bcc fields). The limit is being imposed by your ISP. You
can use WordMail Merge to circumvent this.
 
Check with your ISP, some ISP's will only allow a certain
number of emails to go out at once so they might be
retricting you.
