"too many recipients" is there a limit on dist list?

Is there a limit to the number of contacts you can have in a distribution
list. I sent out an email and got the following error message for all
recipients.

452 4.5.3 Too many recipients 26sm9334826wra.32

Yet, my email address was on the list and I received the email no problem.
Now I can't tell who did or didn't receive the email. Please help!

The limit is set by your mail admin (work) or ISP (home) - it is not a limitation from Outlook.
