Usually it means there are too many people in the To, CC and/or BCC fields
on an outgoing email

My distribution list has 126 names. Will be happy to break it down. What is
the maximum number of people the distribution list will take? Thanks.

It varies based on mail server configuration. It's not an Outlook setting.

Thank you. That was a very key piece of information. Now I can go back to my
ISP and get this solved.

There may be depending upon who your ISP is. Found out that on my particular
ISP there is a limit of 25 recipients distributed between the To: CC: and
BCC: fields. They are trying to locate a commercial server where there isn't
a limit on the number of recipients. There is a limit of 10 recipients in the
To: field.

So if you are experiencing difficulty with this, you may want to check into
the different ISPs. But until I got the official information from Microsoft
that this was NOT determined by Outlook, I kept getting bounced between the
anti-virus people and the ISP.

Hope this helped.

A Mail Merge can overcome this limitation with any ISP because it selds each
message individually. Some ISPs also limit how many messsages can be sent
within a certain timeframe as well, and a mail merge may not be able to
overcome that.
