Too many Personal folders

S

Shane Nation

I have copied my Outlook folder from my desktop to my laptop. Now on my
laptop I have three personal folders which contain all the same data
"Calendar, Contacts etc" and I can not delete any of them. When I 1st right
clicked on two of them and click Close personal folder, I go a message
saying it could find this folder, now I don't get the option of closing the
personal folder.

PLease, please can anyone help. I only have the one personal folder on my
desktop PC.

I am using 2003

Thanks

Shane

Russ,

Thanks for this link. As I was reading some of the posts your response
caught my eye.

You really did not explain what you did. Simply "copying" a PST file
without configuring Outlook to use it will invariably cause profile
corruption among other problems. That is why Microsoft provided ample
instructions on how to migrate Outlook data in its Help Files. Please read

Thank you.
I copied the whole outlook folder from C:\Documents and Settings\Shane\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft and placed it in the same location on
the laptop.

Will I have to un-install Outlook from my laptop to correct the corruption?

And will I be able to use this method on a weekly basis to transfer the file
from desktop to laptop?

No need to uninstall. Just create a new profile and configure it to use the
PST you want.
