Too many My Documents Folders

I have several My Docs folders and its very confusing.
I've tried to reorganize but get messages about WIndows
Files and loose my place when I try to copy and paste
between those folders. Can I get these down to one My Docs
and one Shared docs.? will appreciate advice. thanks

You should only have 1, that is, for you. Each user of the machine will
have his/her own Documents and Settings folder and each of those will have a
My Documents folder.

The easiest way to not get them confused is to access the My Documents
folder via the shortcut on your desktop.

Thank you.. I have My Docs with 2 files in it -My Pictures and one I put there. In My computer there are MM's Docs (thats me) Shared Docs and Local Disk C; under C: are Docs and Settings > all users> and again Shared Docs; under the MM are My Docs; My Recent Docs and a Start Menu folder and a Desktop Folder and a Windows Folder: I have to figure out where to save stuff everytime I go to save anything and I realized I have saved stuff all over the place. I am new to XP but have moved around in directorys since 1981 with the Apple IIe CPM operating system-then DOS so directory structure isn't new to me - but this has me going in circles. Is there anywhere in XP that I can see the whole C: drive directory? maybe that would help. I just hate leaving this messy mixed up multiple folder stuff as is. I am the only user tho I am networked to my other pc's- (sort of- working on that)----- Scott M. wrote: ----

If you open the My Documents or My Computer icons on your desktop, you will
be able to expose the entire C drive.

Each user that logs on to the computer will cause a "profile" to be created
for them. A user profile exists inside of Documents and Settings and
consists of a folder for:

cookies
desktop
favorites
My Documents (referred to as the user's name [i.e. MM's Documents]
start menu
user data
and possibly more

This way, when each user logs into the system, they will get a system that
is configured to thier settings and their files will be available.

There will be a profile for each user as well as one for the Administrator
and also "All Users".

As I stated before, it's best to ignore the profiles that aren't you and
just use the My Documents icon rather than try to see all the profiles at
once (until you become familiar with the structure that is).
