Too many cookies?

While looking in my Documents and Settings I noticed that I have about 1,500
cookies on file. What is the normal number of cookies before they slow down
the browser?

In order to eliminate them, I went to IE Tools > Options > Delete Cookies.
But, that eliminated only half of the cookies. I then deleted the rest of
the cookies in Documents and Settings > User > Cookies. That worked OK. What
is the correct procedure for eliminating cookies?

Go to IE Tools>Internet Options>General>Browsing History>Delete. Click on
"Delete All".

Cookies don't slow down the browser, and there is no *normal* number of
cookies to have.

Some cookies can be malicious and track what you do, but most cookies are
innocuous and help you rather than hurt you. For example if you go to the
New York Times web site and register, a cookie will be created that will let
you come back any time you want to. If you delete that cookie, you will have
to reregister when you come back.

If it were me, I would *not* delete all cookies indiscriminately.

It ain't to delete all of them and THEN ask what to do!
