Toner cartridges for laser writers: Is everything chipped?

G

We just got an HP1320N for use with several G3 / G4 10.2.8 - 10.3.9 -
10.4.2 Macs (and a PC). For all the reviews I read, I didn't see
anything about the cartridge having a chip, a "feature" I don't like.
At this end of the laser writer spectrum, is everybody (Brother, HP,
Samsung, Okidata, etc.) using chipped cartridges these days?

Is everybody using chipped consumables in ALL their products?

I have an Epson ink jet and a chip resetter ($3) that I use to get MANY
more pages than the chips would ordinarily allow. I rarely print color
so I can keep resetting my (full, never used but "expired") color carts
and and just use plain black ink.

Has anybody made a similar chip resetter for the HP Q5949A toner carts?

Thank you.

To the best of my knowledge Brother and Okidata don't use chips in their
laser/LED printers, at least not extensively. Not sure about Samsung. HP use
them extensively in their latest mid range to high end printers but compatible
chips for all (I think) of them are available from Static Control Corporation
resellers and no doubt elsewhere. HP entry level lasers tend not to use chips,
eg LJ1020 and 1022.
I am not aware of any chip resetters for the Q5949A and Q5949X cartridges.
Your 1320 will take the X cartridge as well as the A cartridge.
