Todays Update

Frank

I am currently running Windows 2000 Professional and just
saw on the news about the latest hole in Windows that is
subject to hackers.

I went to the suggested web site
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp
however when I pull it up there are 25 suggested updates
for my system. These do not show dates. How can I
determine what is todays update??

Thanks
Frank

I think I would

1) Back up my data
2) Make a brand new, fresh Boot Disk/CD
3) locate the OS Install CD's
4) Locate all my vendor specific and hardware drivers
5) Make Sure I had all of my set up info, like user
accounts, passwords, email and internet settings, etc
written down somewhere.

do all of the Critical ones, then, get a pot of coffee,
and a free couple of hours if things go well, more if not,

and research and think about the rest.

Of course, if the PC is older, you might want to be very
cautious about it, and look into what problems folks are
having with the various Service packs, and such.

Make sure you have a boot disk, your install CD for
Windows, and your hardware drivers, and

backup your data - all of it, always, before you upgrade
the OS or Internet Explorer.
