To much hight in a cell

If I highlight everything and then go to Format - Cells and then check Wrap
Text I will find many cells that are 3, 4 and 5 time higher than they should
be. Anyone knows why. Out of 5,000 rows I have to go back and twick about a
hundred of them. Any shortcuts to this? I have Excel XP
 
The rows will autofit to the height of the cell in the row with the greatest
number of characters.

If you are seeing row heights greater than that, perhaps you have more in
the cell(s) than you think.

Maybe some leading spaces?
