After copying selected items into the "Files Ready to be Written to the CD"
and I click on "Write these files to CD", I get a "clunk" sound, and nothing
happens. It seems something is blocking this process. This is only a recent
problem, as it has worked perfectly in the past. Can someone please help
me??? Thanks.

Check if this drive is set for recording with XP.
Open My Computer, right click on the CD drive listed there and click on
Properties on the opening menu.
Click on the Recording tab in the opening window and check the box
"Enable...."

Thanks Yves, but the enabled box was already checked, so that can't be the
reason. Any more possibilities perhaps?? Thanks for your suggestion anyway,
it was worth a try ( I will try anything - it's driving me crazy...!)

Not sure.
It worked in the past and Enable is there. So no problem here.
When using XP to copy to CD, you need some memory space on your hard drive
(about 1 GB) and this space must be, so to speak, in one block.
You may have a lot of free memory space available but if you have been using
this computer for a long time and never defragmented your hard drive, this
may be the problem.
Go to Control panel, System maintenance and Rearrange....and then
defragment. Also in Control Panel, Free up space....See if these may help.

I am experiencing the same problem....any additional advise would be helpful.

Open My Computer. Right on the CD drive listed there under Devices with
removable storage. Click on the Recording tab in the opening window and
click on "Enable...."
