Title Bar Hijacked

Hi,

I'm having a problem with the title bar in IE6. I installed Outlook
Express 6 that a university supplied me with. After the installation,
changes were made to Internet Explorer 6 also. They have customized this
version to include the university name in the title bar and changed the
revolving globe in the upper-right hand corner of IE6.

For example, when going to www.google.com. The title bar reads as follows:
Google - Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by the UIU Online Program.

After uninstalling Outlook Express, the title bar of Internet Explorer still
has the university name. How do I get rid of the university name in the
title bar and get the revolving globe back.

I would like to change this back since installed this program on a computer
that doesn't belong to me. Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated.

3. Type

rundll32.exe iedkcs32.dll,Clear

and then click OK.

4. Restart Internet Explorer.

Have you checked for "UIU Online Program" in the registry. Maybe there
is a key in there that contains the customization of IE that your
university stuck in the copy that you installed.

Otherwise, my next guess would be to get Microsoft's IEAK to
re-customize IE back to its standard settings.

Got this from http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/microsoft/ie.htm

I've used it and it works.

Changing Internet Explorer Title Bar

I don't need IE telling me that I'm running "Microsoft Internet Explorer" in
the title bar of every single browser window. Luckily, there is a way to
change it. Fire up the registry editor, and navigate to :

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Internet Explorer\ Main

Look for a String Value called Window Title (if not present create it) and
set the data to whatever you want. If the value is created, but empty, no
text will be displayed, though you'll have an annoying hyphen after the page
title to stare at for all eternity.

Potential administrative uses for this might be to insert the workstation
name or maybe a tidbit of information you'd like to display to users, such
as the help desk phone number. Being that it's a simple registry entry, you
can easily use a login script to set this value when the user logs into the
network.
