Timing out in Word

My friend is having a problem with Word. He said it is "timing out" after 5
minutes and then closes after the error message. I can't find anything in
the help file about it.

This does not sound like anything to do with Word. What *exactly* does the
error message say and what is the message box title? My guesses would be
that he has added some third party utility that closes unused Windows, or he
has picked up some virus.
