When I try to synch my clock with the internet time option and enter update I
receive the following message.

An error occured getting the status of the las synchronization. Access is
denied.

I've done some research and tried a few fixes but nothing has worked.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I've tried time-a.nist.gov and time-b.nist.gov

I have Mcafee Firewall Express and I disabled it and then tried to synch but
received same error message

It would help if you would post what fixes you have tried so someone doesn't
post one of those and then you respond with, I tried that before and it
didn't help.

Tried to stop W32time then unregister and reregister and restart

Tried unchecking auto update and rebooting machine then checking auto update

Tried Windows Time Service Tools to resync / rediscover / config

None fixed the problem

Hello,

Are you using some sort of a firewall which might be blocking the NTP port ?

I don't know whether the automatic synchronization facility in
Windows-XP has ever worked for my home computer. It always used to give
an error message, and I have unchecked it. I do a manual synchro once
in a while, using nistime-32bit.exe, downloadable from
ftp://time.nist.gov/pub/daytime/nistime-32bit.exe. It is a small
program (266,843 b) and has been working quite well. At the same time,
I doubt whether time can really be synchronized to an accuracy of a few
milliseconds or even to one-tenth of a second.

When I tried to ping time-a.nist.gov and time-b.nist.gov
I received a msg indicating ping was in progress but both sites timed out
and ping was unsuccessful
