time of last system restart

One way you can see the detail info. on this is to enable "System" event log
with Successfull/Fail option. You would do this in Local Security
Policy/Audit Policy/Audit System Events. Once done, restart your PC, look
into Event log using Event Viewer/System/Event# 6009. The display is similar
to the below lines:

****************************
Event Type: Information
Event Source: EventLog
Event Category: None
Event ID: 6009
Date: 1/2/2004
Time: 11:53:44 AM
User: N/A
Computer: YOURPC

Description:
Microsoft (R) Windows (R) 5.01. 2600 Service Pack 1 Uniprocessor Free.
****************************
To learn more detail of this event, click the
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp inside the Event Properties
dialog. If you delete the System event log without saving it, then all will
be wipeout.

Not the start time/date, but uptime since boot is provided near
the top in output from commandline utility systeminfo.exe

Thanks for the info Wesley,
Another reason to keep away from Home I guess,
but the absence of this in Home is good to know of.

restarted?

Roger;
Well, I stay at home a lot. :o) Actually, I'm stuck with Home for now.
If you need to know about the limitations of Home, I'm the guy to ask.
I had Home for a week or so and couldn't figure out why gpedit wouldn't work.
So I posted a question. You know what the answer was.

Wes and Roger,

Microsoft has a utility called uptime.exe that is part of the w2k
resource kit. If you type it in google, it will provide links to
download that utility.

Yes, in my first post this thread I was remembering uptime,
and went looking to see if it was in the W2k3 reskit, and not
finding it decided not to mention it.

Similarly, at first I was going to reference the script at
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/scriptcenter/compmgmt/scrcm42.asp
until I noticed that it does not spit out the LastBootUpTime property
of the Win32_OperatingSystem object while it is listing out
"the same data found in the System Information applet"

Thanks for the reminder that most W2k reskit tools work in XP.

Hmmm - good point. Actually, this time of year I used
to try to stay far from Home, way to the south.

gpedit and Home - yes, that one I know of.
Actually, I did make a Home virtual machine build, for
the sake of learning of the deltas from Pro, but somehow
it seems it fell to disuse.

-8° F here this morning. It has moved clear up to 0º. Brrr.....

I happen to have the w2k version of uptime running on my machine.
Nowadays, I've let that go into disuse since I'm using bginfo.exe from
winternals that displays it on the wallpaper. Much better use of
resources in my opinion and you can use it in any version of windows.

I had forgotten that I even had this.

I swear that there is already something in XP, including Home, that tells
uptime.
I'll be darned if I can remember where I saw it. :-(
