Time changes by itself

I have 1 computer where the time in the taskbar changes on its own. It is
part of a domain and is the only computer in which it is changing. We have
tried restarting it but it will change at some point. There is a policy on
server where daylight savings time is enabled but it is not on individual
computers. Again, this is the only computer on the domain that is having this
problem. I had a similar problem with time changes on outlook calendar but
resolved it as it was due to a PDA bluetooth conflict. There is no bluetooth
associated with this computer.
Please help.

It changes to a random time? I don't think so. Why not give details.

Chances are it's the Windows Time service that's doing this. You can stop
the service in Control Panel>Admin Tools>Services. On a domain it shoudln't
be necessary anyway, as you can sync the computers to the server with

net time \\servername /set /yes

Also check the timezone setting is correct, or you will find wrong
timestamps on emails EVEN if the clock is right.

sorry, it changes down an hour. It is pretty random as to when it does it and
the server is running ok since all the other computers on the domain don't
have this issue.

All workstations synch with the domain controller at bootup (in UTC aka GMT). 1 hour is either a daylight saving thing or a timezone thing. Windows works in GMT and adjusts the time it displays from that to account for timezone.

All other computers on the domain show the correct time. It is just
this one computer. I have changed the time to the correct time and then
restarted the computer. It went back again 1 hour. Please confirm that
this could be a battery issue.
THanks

I've told you what it is. Read what I type. Nothing to do with batteries. Daylight saving (which you said you checked) or timezone. Windows works in GMT. The time you see is GMT +/- Timezone +/- Daylight Savings. But windows only keeps track of time in GMT.

PS Windows uses UTC which is based on atomic clocks. GMT which is millionth of a second difference is based on astronomical observation. For practible purposes they are the same.

Your workstation synchs the time, in UTC, from the domain each boot. Therefore the display difference is due to timezone or daylight saving.

I did fix the issue by enabling daylight savings time on her computer.
But the problem just doesn't seem right. If ALL computers weren't on
daylight savings time on the personal computers but on the server and
it was a policy that was pushed out, then why is it just the one
computer? And if I enable daylight savings time on the one computer
shouldn't all the others that don't have it enabled be wrong? If so,
why aren't they changing? I'm fairly new to IT support but am the only
one on site that is most capable of dealing with the problem. The
network guy comes out next week since it's not a major priority now.
Thanks for all the help.

Windows only works in UTC. Co-ordinated Universal Time (UTC is the initials of that in half French and half English).

When you see a time windows adds or subtracts the time zone and DST offset. Therefore either the server and other workstations have the wrong time zone or the one workstation does if truely DST is enabled on server and one wks. But you have to check the times to UTC by adding/subtracting the timezone and daylight saving.
