Where is the file that is simply identified with a ~ on
my desktop coming from? It seems to appear at random and
I am constanly deleting it and empty recycle bin only to
see it reappear latter.

A benign bug that comes with making certain changes to the address book.

Hi!
This happens when you make a change and/or view the Address Book. You
can either rename it with a .dbx extension or delete it.
