.tif file Content-Type: application/octet-stream

I am trying to upload a .tif using ie6 and when the request goes to my
webserver, I get the the Content-Type as application/octet-stream instead of
image/tiff.
However I have tried uploading the same .tif image using a firefox web
browser and the webserver application retreives the Content-Type as
image/tiff. Does any one if I need to do any changes in my registry such that
ie6 sends the file content-type correctly as image/tiff.
