Ticker tape or news bar while PPT running in the background

We use PowerPoint regularly. To provide our presentations with extra
information we want to put a ticker tape or news bar (like CNN) at the
bottom of the screen, while PowerPoint is running in the background.

Till now we couldn't find any solution or plug in feature. We know
this issue has been a subject of several threads in the past, but
could someone inform us if this problem is solved or provide is a link
or more information about any solution?

You could set a web page to be displayed within the PowerPoint slide. The
web page would display the ticker. Take a look at this free add-in to
display web pages in a PowerPoint show. LiveWeb:
