Tick Marks on Graphs

Guest

I am trying to alter the numbering and location of the ticks on the X-axis, because I need to be able to have each tick mark directly on the number. As it, each point is graphed in between 2 marks. I hope this makes sense, because I need to change the formatting of this in order to complete this graph. Help!

Hi Datura,

You don't say what type of chart you are using, so I will assume line.

Either change the chart type to xy-scatter, which uses true values on
the xaxis. Or if a line type select the xaxis and press CTRL+1 to
display the format dialog. On the scale tab uncheck the Y axis crosses
between categories.

If you need to alter the numbering to n equally spaced gaps the take a
look at Jon Peltier's example of arbitary axis. Obviously adjust the
technique for the xaxis.

Another hint.

If it's a column or line chart, double click the axis, and on the
Patterns tab, choose one of the options for Minor ticks. Even if you
select None for Major ticks, you will get a minor tick where the major
tick was. But at least you have a tick where the label is.
