thunderbird backup

Hi,


While trying to save the inbox file of thunderbird, i saw that the
trash
is scattered all over the mailbox (despite it was erased before, and
sent
to trash) . So, for me the trash is not really sorted out and
eliminated from
the inbox, -even if this was done through thunderbird's GUI...
Did anyone solve that ? thanks,

Nothing to solve, it is the way many applications work.

Deleted messages are marked as deleted, but not physically removed.

Until you compact the mailbox, the space is not reclaimed, but it may be
reused when a message comes along that fits the same space.
