Check for loose connections. Do the thumps change in volume when
you increase or decrease the volume setting, and does it stop thumping
when you mute the speakers?

Probably one of your speaker jacks is making a bad contact. You
might solve the problem by unplugging your speakers and subwoofer
(if you've got one), cleaning the jacks, and working them in and
out of their holes a few times to clear away and bits of lint or
dust. If the jacks themselves are faulty, this won't help. New
wires might cure the problem, or it might be in the sound card,
where the jacks plug in. I know, it sucks. One loose wire or
contact, and you may need to get a new sound card. But try
fiddling by plugging and upplugging the jacks, and twisting them
slightly in their sockets.

maybe bad music

Just follow the wires from your speakers to the computer and wiggle
them to see if that creates the thump. Then push the plugs in if they are loose. Are
you saying that have no sound from the speakers, just the
thumping noise? You could try re-installing the 'drivers' for your
sound card...where did you buy the computer, and did you receive a
CD ROM with for reinstalling devices?
