i have noticed that a file with the name thumbs.db has
somehow attached itself to something in one of my
documents, and when i copy this to cd i get the message
that this information may be destroyed by copying. i
cannot locate it in the documents folder and dont know if
it is safe to delete it, anybody got any ideas?

Thumbs.db is a file that windows uses. When you have your
settings so that it shows thumbnails instead of, say,
icons, or something like that, it creates this file. It's
fine to delete, my computer still works after deleting
it :)

If you view a folder in 'Thumbnail view' this file is generated to
cache the thumbnails (you can turn this off in Folder Options - View,
but it will slow down opening the folder subsequently). The extra
'metadata' referred to is only of interest to your system, and there is
no loss if you lose it in copying. It is probably not really worth
copying the thumbs.db file anyway
