Thumbnail View Missing

I have lost the ability to view my jpg.files in a thumbnail view inside a
folder. The single photos posted inside the folder are all viewed as icons.
The Sub Folders that are listed inside the file all show a thumbnail view on
front of the folder as they always have. The individual photos all are shown
as icons though.
Have switch views from the VIEW MENU and all work properly excerpt
THUMBNAILS and as described above only show as icons.
What do I have to do to get the thumbnails to show a preview photo instead
of the icon?
Running XP Home Ver.2002 with SP2

Thank You For Your Time & Interest,
Chuck
