Thought I got a great deal, but...

I got a touchscreen monitor for $10.50 for my new teahouse. It is a
grocery store self-checkout aisle pull, made by Kristel with an ELO
touchscreen controller.

Everything works, even if it is the ugliest thing you've ever seen,
but I can only get 640x480. The freeware POS software I want to use
(Yeah, I really am a terrible cheapskate) requires 800x600. When I
contacted Kristel's tech support, they replied:

"This is an older display that only displays up to 38Khz Horizontal
frequencies. Most 800x600 formats are 48 Khz, but there is one that
is 38Khz and will work. Unfortunately the display graphics card you
have doesn't sound like it uses the lower frequency SVGA resolution.
If thats the case you can only use 640x480(VGA) resolution, sorry."

I don't know what this means. Can someone decipher it and tell me if
there is a video card I can get to make this thing run in 800x600, and
where I could get it?

I would really appreciate it.

It means that if your card will support an 800 x 600 timing
that doesn't exceed at 38 kHz horizontal rate, the thing will
accept that. The standard VESA timing for 800 x 600 at
60 Hz runs at a 37.9 kHz H. rate, so try that. If your card
doesn't support that timing, then you either need to get
another card or use a different monitor.

Okay, I really, really appreciate the help, but that was absolute
greek to me. Can you tell me what I have to do? I have an NVidia
GeForce 5200 video card in this machine.
