This seems interesting but I can't do it

Here is a suggestion that Austin made. It seems very interesting but I wasn't
able to get any thumbnails as described. What am I missing ? (I use PPT 2003)

"I do not like "linking" shows for the very reason you point out. Instead I
create a blank presentation and Insert the existing presentations in it.
Lets assume you have a new presentation with a single blank slide. Now
insert the other presentations into it.

The result will be that the first slide of each inserted presentation will
be displayed as a thumbnail that you may size at will. When you run the
presentation you simply click the thumbnail desired and it jumps to that
presentation.

The advantage here is that you are only running a single instance of
PowerPoint. If you close the "sub presentation" (one that you inserted.)
you are back to your original slide and are ready to run the others or
progress as desired."

Christine,
I think Austin is referring to Insert - Object - radio button from file -
browse to
your PowerPoint file - select - OK - that will give you a clickable item
consisting of the first slide of the presentation.
