This rule worked and now it doesn't and I can't recreate one that does work...

My hard drive went out, I bought a new one and started from scratch... this
shouldn't matter, but...
I'm using Office 2003 and Exchange 2007.

All the rules I had before the crash work fine, except one.
I've deleted the rule and recreated it a number of times.
The rule is this:
after the message arrives
with specific words in the sender's address
move it to the specified folder
No Exceptions

For example my email address is (e-mail address removed)
If I put "mydomain", "my", "mydomain.com", (e-mail address removed)"or
"@mydomain.com" as the specific words in the sender's address, click OK,
click Apply, click "Run Rules Now" and choose that rule I just created, it
will not move the emails from my domain into the folder I specified.
If in my example I put "kelvin" in as the specific word, it works just fine.

To make 100% sure I wasn't typing something wrong, I added the email address
from my Globel Address Book to my Contacts in Outlook and copied and pasted
their their email address from the contact.

When I choose Run Rules Now I have All Messages selected and my Inbox
selected....

I'm at a loss.
It worked before, I've recreated it a number of times, it works if I use the
name part, but will not work with any part of the domain.
All the email addresses I want to move are in my Globel Address Book if
there's some other way to do this, I'm open to hearing about what that might
be.

Any ideas on how to get this working?

Thanks

Kelvin

Export all your rules, then run outlook.exe /cleanrules from the start
run box. Then recreate the rule and see if it works.

Nope, I ran this, it did clean out my rules.
I recreated the rule and ran it, nothing moved.

Same as before, if I add the user name part they move.
Added variations of the domain, nothing moves.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Try running rules in cached mode\not cached mode whichever you're not
in.

Don't put "mydomain", "my", "mydomain.com", (e-mail address removed)" or
"@mydomain.com" as the specific words. Choose any one of those substrings,
not all of them. See if that makes a difference.

It was in non cached mode so I changed it to cached

No difference, nothing moves

If that rulse don't work right till now...
I recommend you, Disable your mailbox(On Exch. Console) and re-create

Thanks Eric

I was guessing that's where I'd end up.
As far as keeping my old emails, is there a way in Exchange I might do this,
or should I create a PST file and copy everything into there, and then back?

Thanks

Kelvin

Have you tried creating the rule via OWA? If that doesn't work yeah
new mailbox. You can also try moving your mailbox before recreating.
Yes you will have to export-mailbox then import-mailbox again.

I tried though OWA but no different...

Can I rename the mail box so it's not deleted, and then recreate a new one
with the origianl user name?
I did export the mail box into a PST file. But I'm a little chicken and if I
could rename it I could get it all working and then delete it...

Any thoughts on this?

Kelvin

In a sense; you can go to OWA disable your account; then create a new
mailbox and attach it to your account. Then create a test account and
attach it to your original account.
