X-No-archive: yes

So many questions about things that don't work
correctly, by posters who don't provide enough of
their system details (and I've been guilty of that).

Up to now, I've saved tips and techniques on all
manner of things, that I thought may be useful to
me one day. But really all these, especially those
posted by the MVP's, should be collected in a FAQ.

I only have a somewhat limited knowledge of this
OS (but it's getting better, day by day), so while I'd
like to contribute to a FAQ myself, I'd rather the
MVP's, and other experts here, step up to plate first.
I will, however, offer to maintain and publish the FAQ,
that's the least I can do.

Which is better, a FAQ, or a fast serch engine that
covers all the posted messages? Either way you
end up scanning a list for just the right response:

BTW, FAQ's are usually a good idea, and, you're
not the first to suggest it. The trouble is, who's job
is it to build and maintain it?

Perhaps what is needed is a wikki sort of page that
can be edited by all who visit?

Hello,

Check out the MVP's websites for the MVPs hanging around here. They often
have a FAQ, or other useful resources on their website. One of my favourites
are www.jsiinc.com

But, most of the time Google Groups ( http://groups.google.com ) is the
fastes way to find a solution.

And a FAQ is really difficult to maintain. It growes and growes, until it
becomes too big, making it difficult to find what you are looking for. But
Google's search engine is so fast, and smart, it is very easy to find the
solution there.
