I have tried the following,
Start Windows Mail
Click the Tools menu and choose Options...
Click the Spelling tab
From the Language drop-down, select English (default choice)
Click OK

The above does not work. When I click on tools there is not even an options
tab.
There is a spelling tab, but when I click on it I get the same message. I
don't have an options/language tab? Help please.

You're not following the directions if you're not seeing 'Options'.

Thanks for reporting back.
It is confusing that MS used 'Tools' on two different menu paths.
