This is my Second posting concerning the Installation of FP2003

Guest

I have a full copy of Office97, and a full copy of FrontPage 2002. I am
running Windows XP Pro. SP2, and Office 2003. The trouble I'm having is that
FP2003 will not install to Office 2003, in fact it won't install at all. I
have gone to MS Support, they don't understand why it won't install, than
they refer me to a lot of web sites and tell me to go to the "Help Center"
which might help. I have read the "Install Log" which that tells me about an
error "0x8007002" and that the "startcache" failed. Well I've been there and
done that, now I'm asking for someone in the Newsgroup for some kind of idea,
or a solution. I have working on this problem now for a week. Like I said
this is my second posting concerning the same problem. Please, if you can,
Help me.

What do you mean by "Install to Office 2003"?

If you have any anti-virus application running, you must total disable them during the install,
which you should do for all application installations.

I've cut off the virus, firewall, anything that I thought would create that
error message in the Install log. (0x8007002) Why it fails to start a
startcache" your guess is better than mine. I tryed it again, after reading
your post. It came back with the same message. I'm at my wits end over this
problem. I read a lot of "White Page" the one that even comes close to the
problem is Artcle ID: 829562. But that only deals with FP2003 already
installed. I even tryed that, but it didn't work.

as far as the wording of "install to Office 2003" that was missed worded.
sorry for that...this problem is driving me NUTS!!

I know your issue is related to FP, but you might try posting to the Office Newsgroup as well
regarding the specific error message.

I'm sure you've alredy tried this, but did you unisntall the other versions
before installing the full copy of MSO 2003? It's not an upgrade, correct
but a full copy?

Mr. Rusynko,

I checked the OSE it was started....I tried to install again, but it
wouldn't. Now there is another MS program which is MS Plus! it also will not
install, and I get the same error message. Now I'm really at a lost at what
is causing the problem. I tried MS Support, it seemd now that it cost $35.00
per request. I think I will just re-format, than re-install XP and Office
2003. Oh! Ya...and pray that I don't still have the same problem. Thank You
All for the Ideas. and things to look at, that would cause the problem.

Mr. Rowe,

I'm going to re-formatt, re-install XP, Office2003, than FrontPage. I foound
another MS program that wouldn't install it was MS Plus!. I have read thru
the install logs and they all say the same thing. That "startcache" failed,
and it gave the error message 0x8007002. I check OSE, it was turned on.
.....
The Atached comments were also the same in both install logs:
.....
MSI (c) (94:9C) [12:36:16:578]: APPCOMPAT: looking for appcompat database
entry with ProductCode '{91170409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9}'.
MSI (c) (94:9C) [12:36:16:578]: APPCOMPAT: no matching ProductCode found in
database
......
Maybe you can make heads or tails of that...or either past it along to
someone who might know a reason for the problem I was having.
......
So I'm just going to re-format and pray that will clear up any problems that
this machine might have. I call MS Surport, they now are charging $ 35.00 per
request.
Being a disable Viet Nam vet. living on a fix income I can't go $70.00 at
the moment.
I want to thank you for all the help that you have given to me. Wish me luck!!
