Another instance of Carey speaking without knowing. The download links
are to the patches on Microsoft's server.

http://www.kurttrail.com/microscum/postsp2 is a list of all essential
updates to Windows XP from SP2 onward in chronological order with links
to the direct downloads from Microsoft's server.

The best reason to do the patching yourself and not rely on Windows
Update or Automatic Update is to cut out another layer of crap that can
go wrong in the patching process.

Carey,

I just went to the site and started to download a patch. It was coming in
from download.microsoft.com - so, the files (at least the one I tested) WAS
coming from Microsoft!

Looks like a site put up buy someone whose sole purpose is trying to
profit (via advertising, a lot of advertising) from gullible people who
don't know how to use Windows Update properly. The so-called
"explanations" of the patches are slim on technical information, but
rich in opinion; pretty much useless, in other words.

Like Microsofts sole purpose isn't profit? You make me laugh.

Sure, but Microsoft doesn't inundate one with irrelevant advertisements
and pop-ups just to get updates. Also, while Microsoft seeks to profit
from it's own products and services, it doesn't seek to profit from
someone else's work, contributing little or nothing of value, the way
the web site in question does.
