This driver is blocked due to compatibility issues - Sonic Solutions

I'm getting an error message after restarting my computer:

"This driver is blocked due to compatibility issues"
Driver: Sonic Solutions DLA

Vista can't find a solution online, can it ever? ;)

Which, I think, is my cd/dvd burning software, right? I can burn cd/dvds
just fine, both dvd drives work, how might I get rid of this error message?

I encountered the same problem this weekend after installing Easy
Media Creator 9
Aparrently you should only install it IF the box is marked with the
Windows Vista Logo mine aparrently did not... it was download so I
knew nothing about this.
There is a fix. It took me about an hour to find it.
Go to the Roxio site and go to the discussions group and search the
group for "Sonic Solutions DLA "
There is a post there linking to a Roxio patch file that will remove
the offending driver. The file is about 50MB. Be sure to read all
the information. It is best to run it from the "Run" command line.
Hope this gets you going.

You should have uninstalled before the upgrade. Do it now. DLA is
incompatible and does not work with Vista. It is also completely
unnecessary--all of Sonic is unnecessary. Remove all Sonic entries in Add
remove programs.

Hi there, thank you so much! I am at the Roxio forums but can't find it.
Do you remember the name of the file?

Was there an upgrade? Does Vista upgrad without me knowing it? The
computer is one week out of the box and Sonic was preloaded by Dell. So,
Vista has dvd/cd burning software already? I'll be glad to remove it. Just
reading the Roxio forums doesn't give me much to like about them as a
company.

It appears that I am coming in on the end of a thread, but I have been
battling this monster. I uninstalled it, I eliminated its files and
folders, I eliminated it from the registry. Still, I continue to get the
blocked driver message popping up and refusing to go away. I cancel it, and
it re-appears. The odd thing is that it claims the location of the Sonic
DLA driver is unknown.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

This worked for me,

Cause This error is generated by Windows Update KB929427 which was
distributed to Vista customers on 1.30.2007.

Customers not running Easy Media Creator 9, or other Vista non-compatible
software by Roxio, may experience this issue as well.

Resolution Roxio is currently working on a resolution to this issue. The
error, while annoying, will not effect Easy Media Creator 9's functionality.
However, if you wish to eliminate the error, the only work around at this
time is to temporarily remove the update.

Please read the Microsoft Knowledge Base article The Windows Vista
Application Compatibility Update before continuing. Removing this update may
effect other applications on your computer. If you wish to reinstall the
update at any time, the Microsoft Knowledge Base article offers a link to
re-download it.

Also, be sure that you are running a Vista compatible version of Roxio
software as listed in the article Windows Vista Support for Roxio products.
If you are unsure of what version of the software you have, you can find out
by launching the software and choosing About ... from the Help menu.

To remove the update:

1.. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Under Programs, click Uninstall a
program.
2.. On the left of the Programs and Features window, click View installed
updates.
3.. After the Installed Updates window loads, scroll down to the Microsoft
Windows payne.
4.. Right-click Update for Microsoft Windows (KB929427) and select
Uninstall.
5.. Rather than restart your system, shut it down completely and then
reboot. The error should be eliminated.

I removed the Sonic Drag and Drop from the control panel and it seems to
have worked.

I couldn't find the file but earlier today I uninstalled the drag and drop
feature and after two restarts no error message so I hope it's done the
trick. :)

Hey I see you think you fixed the problem.
Sorry I did not find this post till this AM.

Here is the link to the Roxio forum where the patch was posted:

Aparrently a recent Vista patch has broken the DLA for some users and
others have other issues. It appears to be a HUGE mess.

The file name is d2d3290.exe (Drag to Disk). I ran it on mine and do
not get the error message anymore under Vista but I cannot change the
content on a CDRW disk formatted with Easy CD Creator 5 patched to
work with Windows XP. I used to save a lot of data this way but for
the last six months I have converted over to an extra hard drive on my
computer to save all my data on. It got to taking too long to write
large backup files to the formatted CDRW and I lost a disk or two over
the past five or six years due to errors.

Pumpkin - Be sure to read over all the post on that forum. It appears
that even people with the inside knowledge at Roxio did not even know
there was a patch at the Dell site to fix the problem.

Ah, I should have gone to Dell! I uninstalled the drag and drop portion of
the Roxio suite and it did stop the error message. Thanks for your help,
gripstock, I will do more research and definitely go to Dell.

Sonic is not compatible with Vista. You should of seen that with the
Upgrade Advisor. I had to go into the registry and remove all traces of
Sonic before I could get rid of the error message every time I booted. It
wouldn't even uninstall for me.
