Third-party automatic updates

Peter

How do I stop third-party automatic updates, like Adobe, for instance?

I've disabled thier entries in the Startup tab in Msconfig, but they still
pop-up every so often.

Thank you.

You have to configure the apps. For example Reader 9.0 - Click
Help, Check for updates. When the details box opens click the
Preferences option & uncheck "Automatically Check for ...." The
same kind of setup is required for Sun Java. For Google Apps it
is necessary to uninstall Google Updater. The list goes on and on.

It's a double-edge sword - avoiding the bundled apps when you
install the apps and then the post processing to get out all the extras
you don't want.
