Things just disappear since upgrading to service patch 3.

I have a major problem and not sure which day it happened but Outlook 2003
just wiped out all my addresses and other information and I am not talking
about a couple but several hundred.

I had them all separated by friends, relatives, business etc.

Please don't ask when I lasted backed up as it has been a long time so that
would not include things for say over a year or two.

I just went to get an address and the whole thing is gone.

Something is not right here and the more problems I am having lately the
more I am thinking Outlook is not the best anymore after years of using it
and upgrading.

So can anyone tell me where it is, even the "archive file" is of no help.

Before you even ask NO I did NOT DELETE them, that would be like committing
suicide.

I am referring to the Personal Folders I made, they just disappeared, not
moved, not closed, just gone.

Could the service patch 3 have caused this?

Just noticed that my Calender is gone too and I trued a system restore and it
will not restore to an earlier time.

Now I know something is going on and that this all happened since the MS
download of service patch 3.

No, installing a Service Pack will not delete any pst-files. In your first
post you said you didn't know since when you are missing it and now suddenly
you know it is caused by SP3? What made you change your mind?

System Restore doesn't cover data files; only program files and settings. To
restore data files you'll need to make backups. Since Outlook is keeping
everything in a pst-file it is logic that your Calendar is gone to; same
pst-file. Archive isn't an help because an archive isn't a backup location.

More likely things that are the cause of this are sync with a mobile device
gone wrong or accidental deletion of your pst-file (some virus scanners tend
to do this still as well).

Either way; Outlook doesn't commit suicide like this on your data either.
