This is driving me nuts!!!! I have a toolbar called
theSearchMall.com bar. I tried everything,I can't find it
on install/uninstall programs. I used every spyware and
pop up killer I can find, I downloaded every microsoft
update available, I found it in subfolders in the file
search and thought it was deleated but it keeps coming
back. To get rid of it I go to: view> Toolbars, and I
uncheck it, it goes away until I go to a site and then it
is checked again and the toolbar is back. Any Ideas?
Thanks

How did thesearchmall.com become my homepage?
There are several ways this could happen:

You clicked on the "make TheSearchMall my homepage" link on the
thesearchmall.com webpage.
You may have installed our TheSearchMall Toolbar software from the
thesearchmall.com webpage or from one of our many partner sites.
How do I uninstall the TheSearchMall toolbar and change the start
page?

To uninstall the TheSearchMall Toolbar please right click on the
following link and hit save as to save the file onto your computer
http://thesearchmall.com/uninstall.exe. Then open the file from where
you saved it to uninstall the software.

[Update: 2004-06-04] If you installed our toolbar after 2004-06-04,
please click the following link and hit save as to save the file onto
your computer http://thesearchmall.com/uninstall2.exe. Then open the
file from where you saved it to uninstall the software.

If you have OTHER Adware installed on your computer that you'd like to
remove, you can purchase Uninstaller by clicking on this link

I do not believe that this company is trustworthy so I do not know
whether it works or will cause more pain.

BTW, if you are still having trouble with this try using hijackthis.exe. Run the program clean any entries that have 'thesearchmall' in them. This worked for me.
