Why are all my themes read only. Basically my themes from previous version
are not showing up in the thumb preview of said theme. When I tried the
"hack" to fix this problem I notice that some theme for FrontPage are
read-only
1) Is there a way to change this
2) Is there away around this

Sadly, no.

2) Is there away around this

Happily, yes. Save the Theme under a new name, and then
apply the newly-named Theme to your Web site.

You will also note there that the read only is controlled by the THEMENAME.INF file (readonly=true) value
- the reason they are read only is they are never edited / revised (as the same theme name as the installed original theme), but are
always customized under a new theme name
- if you edit a default installed theme it will be overwritten during any future system repairs or reinstalls
