the wrong printer

I am trying to install a lexmark Z517 onto my pc, but everytime I switch my
computer on its says that new hardware found lexmark Z600. After I install
the software from the disk its says that the printer is not the same as that
on the software, but it is. My old printer was a Z600, but I have completely
uninstalled it. Is there anyway I can override the install wizard.

Lexmark may have a "cleanup" utility that may help.
Failing that-- What is happening is that the software is seeing either the
printer signature or a piece of left over driver software. Generally, you
try to install the new printer drivers before you plug the printer to the
USB port. If it is software, things start getting complicated. One problem
is that I could not find the printers on the lexmark web site in the US or
UK areas.
